In my quest to better understand and enjoy the amazing array of wildlife, flora, habitat and natural science phenomena that I encounter everyday, I like to keep a journal that I fill with sketches and notes about my observations and discoveries.

I created the “Backyard Naturalist” in July 2006 in hopes that it would inspire others to also observe the natural world, which was a regular feature in the Times Union newspaper for ten years.
